In February 2008, Lone Star added Water Jet Cutting to its capacity. This substantial investment has been made to enable us to offer a sub-contract water jet cutting service to different sectors and industries. The machine will cut a whole range of metallic and non-metallic materials from 300mm thick steel to 0.5mm thick plastics. The machine, manufactured by Water Jet Sweden, has a 3m x 1.5m cutting table and two cutting heads. The cutting heads can cut using pure water or alternatively an abrasive element can be added to increase cutting power. To create the constant high velocity required to cut thick metal, it is essential to purchase the correct pump.
Lone Star has opted for 100hp Streamline SL-V 100 manufactured by KMT. This powerful, reliable pump will allow us to cut thicker, tougher metals much more effectively, thus making the process hugely competitive when competing against more traditional profiling methods.
The machine is CNC controlled and comes complete with a Fanuc 18i system.
